Wikimedia Commons. Every one is used under a licence that permits commercial use — some are CC0 or public domain, the rest are Creative Commons licences requiring attribution, which is given in the caption and in the table above.
Have the images been altered?
Only resized and cropped to a 16:9 frame for this site, and converted to WebP. Nothing has been added, removed or composited, and no photograph of one place is presented as another.
I am the photographer and the credit is wrong. What now?
Tell us through the contact form and we will correct it straight away, or remove the image if you would rather we did.
Can I reuse these photographs myself?
Yes, but under the original licence rather than anything on this site. Follow the link to the file page on Commons, check the licence shown there, and attribute the photographer as it requires.
