Some trips exist because of one evening — a fixture you have waited years for, a band that is finally touring, a show that only runs in one city. Others are already booked, and a free Tuesday turns into something memorable because there happened to be a game on.

Both are worth planning for, and they pull in opposite directions. If the event is the reason you are going, it is the fixed point and everything else bends around it. If the trip is already booked, the event is the bonus and you work with the dates you have.

Booking the event and the travel in the right order

If the event is the point of the trip, buy the ticket first. It is the same logic as the ferry-first rule in planning a trip with several kinds of transport: commit to whatever has the least flexibility before you commit to anything elastic. There is nearly always another flight. There is not another seat at a sold-out final.

Then work outwards: flights that land with a clear margin before doors open, somewhere to stay within reach of the venue, and a way back afterwards that still runs at 23:00 — late-night transport is the thing people forget.

What to check before you buy, anywhere

  • The all-in price. Service and delivery fees can add a noticeable percentage at checkout. Compare final totals, not listed prices.
  • How the ticket reaches you. Mobile transfer, instant download and physical post have very different lead times, and some transfers only release close to the event. That matters more when you are travelling.
  • The seat, not just the section. Restricted views are legal to sell and are normally disclosed in the listing if you read it.
  • The buyer guarantee. Reputable marketplaces guarantee valid tickets in time for the event, or your money back. Know what it covers before you need it.
  • Never buy from a stranger on social media. That is where almost all ticket fraud happens, and it is the entire reason to use a marketplace with a guarantee.

Can I get tickets for the city I am travelling to?

Usually, yes. StubOrder lists events across all 50 states and internationally, so most destinations with a stadium, arena or theatre are covered. Search the city and your dates and you will see what is on while you are there.

Who is StubOrder, and how are you connected?

StubOrder is an independent ticket resale marketplace trading since 2006, based in Buffalo, New York. It is our ticketing partner — and it is owned by the same person who owns this site. Does AirOrSeaTravel sell the tickets?

No. We take no bookings or payments, for travel or for tickets. StubOrder handles the order, the payment, delivery and any problem afterwards. Your contract is with them.

Is resale the same price as face value?

Not necessarily. A resale marketplace is a secondary market: prices float above or below face value with demand, right up to the event. If a show has not sold out, check the box office or official seller first. Resale earns its keep on sold-out dates and for seats you cannot get any other way — which, when you are booking from another country, is often exactly the situation you are in.

Should I buy tickets before or after booking the trip?

Tickets first, if the event is the reason for the trip. Flights and hotels are nearly always available at some price; a sold-out fixture is not. Book the thing with the hard limit first and build the travel around it.

What if the event is cancelled after I have booked flights?

The ticket seller refunds the ticket under their own policy. Nobody refunds the flight or the hotel because a show was called off — those are separate contracts. If the whole trip exists for one event, that is exactly when travel insurance covering event cancellation is worth reading properly.
